Why I Love Jesus

In 2006 I had a major life transformation and began following Jesus with my whole being. When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit I began to see my calling and it shifted my direction as I pursued my college degree. Now I see my calling as something precious and important. Many have a calling to one particular ministry or area. For me, God has called me to minister to people in different places and cultures. What does that mean? It means that the Holy Spirit has given me several giftings in different areas to fulfill His call on my life. It took me a long time to recognize and come to terms with this calling. I always felt like an outsider or that I never fit in. But now I see that my true home is Heaven and everything I do on earth is to build up the Kingdom of God.

My Timeline

Some people have nice easy timelines and resumes. I, however, do not. Between traveling a lot and going to three different schools, my timeline can be tricky. This can sometimes cause potential employers to ask why I’ve gone from one job to the next. This will hopefully clear up some of that confusion, especially between 2010-2012 and 2016-2017. If not, it least it looks cool, right? Definitely way cooler on a desktop though 😉

January 2010

Youth Pastor at Covenant Life Fellowship (CLF)

Washington, PA

This is a bit tricky. In my Junior year at SEU I chose to go to Israel for 5 weeks. This meant that instead of staying on campus at SEU I could stay home and do online studies during the Spring semester. So while I was home I was asked to start a Youth Group at Covenant Life Fellowship Church.

^

March-April 2010

Jerusalem, Israel

Hands down the best experience of my life. SEU had a facility in Jerusalem we stayed in and we toured the country and the sites for 5 weeks.

I did my summer internship with CLF running both the Youth Ministry and the Young Adult Ministry.

March 2014

Accepted to Hebrew University of Jerusalem and stepped down at Unity Church.

One of my lifetime goals was to live in Israel and since I’m not Jewish, I wasn’t sure how I could do that without going to school there or finding a job (which is very hard). So in 2014 I was accepted to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to begin the Fall semester.

^

May 2014

Graduated from Regent University.

Third trip to Israel.

Graduated from Regent University with an M.Div. I majored in Practical Theology and Biblical Studies.

August 2014

Began M.A. at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

^

October 2015

Started Mareh Productions

Even though I had been filming for about 5 years at this point, I decided to make it official with a name. Mareh is a Hebrew word meaning “sight, vision, or appearance.” It’s found in Exodus 3:3 where Moses encounters the burning bush and calls it a “great mareh.”

June 24, 2016

Came home from Israel

This is the part where I have to be brutally honest. I was burned out from all the schooling and that’s an understatement. I was depressed, tired, and went through a difficult time at Hebrew U. That being said, I didn’t officially finish. It’s a long story, but I didn’t pass a couple of final exams because of scheduling conflicts (please ask about it if you’re more interested).

The day I met my wife (in person)

Being 27 in the church world without a wife is like living with leprosy. This was the day many people prayed over for a very long time. It’s a fun story but also not simple. In 2015 one of Lauren’s friends came to Israel. She thought we would be perfect together. So Lauren stalked me on Facebook and realized we had a ton of mutual friends. Turns out we were at SEU together in 2008-2009 and never met eachother. In the spring of 2016 we began talking a lot. When I got home from Israel, Lauren was in Arizona for a couple weeks. So I boarded a plane, flew to Vegas and then drove 7 hours (overnight) to meet Lauren in Tucson for her birthday! The rest is history!

June 30, 2016

Begin the worst season of my life.

There’s no sugar-coating this. After 9 years in school, two master’s degrees, I came home and there was nowhere for me to live but the living room couch in my parent’s house. On top of that, I couldn’t find a job. To say I was burned out would be an understatement. I can’t tell you how many panic attacks I had in those first two months. And this season of unemployment lasted almost a year and a half. I took some odd jobs here and there but struggled to make ends meet. I did eventually end up moving in with some of my best friends and if it weren’t for that and Lauren, I may not be writing this post right now.

^

October 2016

First missions trip to film in Honduras.

My good friend Clay Powell from SEU is a missionary in Honduras and had been asking me for some time to come down. So I raised support and headed to Honduras to film his ministry and give him promo videos. It was a much-needed change-up from that current season of life.

^

April 2017

Became a Missionary Ambassador with The Foundation for Missions.

After filming Clay’s ministry, the Foundation for Missions asked me to film their other missionaries as well. In the process, I went down to train to become an official ambassador for missionaries.

^

September 2017

Start as Director of Christian Discipleship at Monroeville United Methodist Church.

Even though I wasn’t a Methodist, the opportunity to be a Discipleship Director was intriguing to me. And since no one else was hiring, it appeared that was the door God wanted me to walk through.

I PROPOSED!!

Lauren and I had already been planning the wedding for a couple months at this point because we were doing the whole “long-distance dating” thing. So when it was time I finally got to propose at my favorite place on earth, Jumonville. Oh, and she said yes!

^

October 12, 2017

I GOT MARRIED!!

After years of praying for my wife, years of hating singleness and being alone, I finally married Lauren Marie Serrapica! We couldn’t have asked for a better October day in Pittsburgh. It wasn’t the wedding we wanted (we could only have a few people) but we’ll never regret how intimate and beautiful it was. I’m not crying. You’re crying!

^

March 2018

Flew to Guatemala and Honduras for two weeks and filmed 11 missionaries.

After being asked by the Foundation For Missions to film missionaries, I took on the challenge of raising support and attempted to film 11 missionaries in 14 days. It was insane. I even had my camera stolen towards the end of my trip. But God is good and I made it home safely…though without my camera.

^

February 2019

Begin working for Goetzinger Holdings.

There was a real estate agent looking for a videographer and I had the skills they were looking for. So I worked two jobs.

^

April 2019

Stepped down at Monroeville United Methodist Church (MUM)

God always makes it abundantly clear when it’s time to move on and that’s what He did at MUM. So I stepped down and began working solely at Goetzinger Holdings while still also doing other filming for Mareh Productions.

^

June 2019

Flew to Ecuador to film Casa De Fe (CDF) (Video)

Lauren and I finally got to take our first missions trip together to Shell, Ecuador to film two sets of missionaries that run an orphanage and girls home called Casa De Fe and Casa De Los Suenos, respectively.

^

December 2019

Produced and edited my first short film – Missions Encounter: The Powells

One of my top 5 dreams is to produce a full-length film or documentary. It wasn’t full but it’s a good start. I pulled the footage from my trips in 2016 and 2018 and edited together my first short film of the Powells ministry in Honduras.
